Some news/rumours from the game convention in Cannes: • It's gonna be downwards compatible (they already announced that). • The new ruleset should be more flowing, the wound table will be dropped and replaced with a more intuitive system where you can see the result immediately. • First optics should be shown soon. • They aim for a kickstarter for the end of the year. SD has some experiences with kickstarter and they know that it is not a solution for everything. Some might happen with a kickstarter, some not. There shoud be some more announcement/news in the next few days, I'll keep you posted.

Thanks for the update! I wonder about the kickstarter angle though.

Just a guess, but I'd think the Kickstarter will be for the mentioned Aarklash-themed board game(s). Those self-contained games (with expandable opportunities) are the hot item in the gaming world in recent years, and that will give this whole endeavor more exposure.
And Miniature board game Kickstarters frequently have optional purchases. These could be more models that are compatible with both the board game as well as the tabletop game (like Hybrid figures), and they could also offer some optional high-quality resin models for those fans who would want those.
Don't want the board game, but want the high-quality resin minis? They could have a reward tier for that.
This is merely my idea of what could happen.

Any rumors on witch factions might be going away?

Any rumors on witch factions might be going away? I'd guess factions will more likely "merge" than flat-out going away. Hinted at by the Lion/Griffin artwork.

They said it is after the Rag'Narok, so at least there won't be any Kelts and Mid-Nor, according to the Age of Rag'Narok timeline: the Drunes killed the Sessair and where then killed by the Goblins, the Wolfen pushed back the Mid-Nor back into the far underground. Those two armies where not mentioned in the Age of Rag'Narok either.
Obviously, the Lions and Griffins will be melted together, at least according to the artwork for the 1000 subscribers or so, see above. Further, the Tir-Na-Bor will exist, and according to the Flyer the Cynwäll (picture) and Acheron, Cadwallon and Sphinx (text).
The following stuff is based on only two rumours and is a total guess: • The Rag'Narok turned out good for the Meanders of Darkness. • The number of factions will be decreased.
So, Acheron is there for sure. In the video, they mentioned the Akkyshan as well. Dirz are a very unique selling proposition, although they are not mentioned, so I guess they will be there. As the Sphinx will be there, the Ophidians will be there for sure, unless they where defeated by their old enemy.
The two Orc tribes will be one, my guess would be that they go with the Behemoth instead the Bran-O-Kor. With the two Wolfen factions, there is a chance that on will be gone or that they even form some sort of mercenary after they where crushed in the Rag'Narok and are only playable in Cadwallon. The remaining two Elven factions could also be melted together, maybe this could be a chance for the Daikinee to overcome Maelins curse. Maybe the Concord of the Eagle will be the only factions where Orcs and Wolfen can be played (if they get rid of four factions in one move), and Centaurs and Minotaurs?

While the fluff will assuredly have some impact on the direction of merging, I have to imagine sheer popularity will be a big factor in determining who will be around as well. Dirz was one of the more popular armies to see, so it almost goes without saying they will be present in some capacity, whether stand-alone army, or merged with another.
Also, they need to make this game appealing to the potential new buyers, and that means the different armies need to be visually distinct. Too many of the existing armies look too similar to another army: Sessairs and Drunes, Wolfen and Devourer, Lion and Griffin, 2 different Orc armies....that sorta thing. To the veteran Rackham fan, yeah...it's easy to distinguish because we are already familiar with the content, but to the potential new fan, there's a lot to get mixed up. Yeah, just because they look similar does not mean they play similar, but from a marketing standpoint, you shouldn't discount the impact of visual identity.

I'm more concerned about change of rules... I love wound table and "double 6" and "autofail 1" and relatively complicated calculations in combat resolution. Those are things that make Confrontation special and great.

Well, you have two rulesets (the french one which I never tried and Confrontation Evolution which is really cool) that will be supported by SD and will run further on.

Some official statements from SD. Basically, it's what was said here before, but this time, it's official.

Some official statements from SD. Basically, it's what was said here before, but this time, it's official. Thanks for keeping us updated on this stuff. Rehashing details seems to be what the name of the game has been so far. I really think these guys announced this project too early, because the "news" that has come out in the weeks since this project became public has rarely been new, but rather re-telling of the same basic details we've had since early on. There is certain value is seeing that it's "official" now...but it's getting a little tedious now as the honeymoon phase is wearing off, and nothing of any real substance is coming to light that hasn't been shared before. I'm too anxious for news, and it feels like they simply don't have news to share.

and still, no measures (3cm? 5cm? oval for cavalry?), no nothing, a few recycled images and 3 completely different bases ...
man, what kind of newbies are they?
