My friends are jumping in pretty hard right now. They have Trolls, Khador, Circle, Everbligfht and Skorne. Out of the remaining armies I am into the models for Cryx, Crisis, the merc pirates, and Cygnar. Cygnar is growing on me... I hear Cygnar is crap, one of the worst armies, true? Do you gents have any words for a guy that just wants to have fun with his VERY limited spare time, not loose all the time, and also crush my friends for buying Khador when I said I wanted too? Thank you!

I hear Cygnar is crap, one of the worst armies, true? Not from what I've heard so far. There was a tournament from the german publisher and the Cygnar player won four times in a row against Cryx, Mercs, and Trollbloods. As far as I know, Cygnar is very good against infantry, supports the own troups with spells or hinders the enemy in his movement, and they are very good shooters. Some heavy jacks are also great in close combat. Compared to others, the magical faction is not that strong, but they have many skills to support their jacks and also very good shooting casters.

Awesome, thanks! I'll try and come up with a generic build based on Internet theory and models I like, and see if anyone can help clean it up for me.

I can hand it to one of my friends, he plays Cygnar and has some advice for sure. I also tried to convince him to join here.

Cygnet is good but cryx is incredible! For someone that is used to playing confrontation you'll quickly learn all the sneaky stuff that cryx can do!

Cygnar is probably the most well-rounded army in WM. If it has any superiority it might be its good shooting basic troops and some excellent shooting commanders.
When you get better acquainted with the WM magic system you might be like me and many others that you are insanely jealous of all the different and sneaky ways that a Cryx player can get more focus. Many of the casters can convert soul tokens to focus the following round, two heavy jacks get some on their own(DeathJack and the seether) and some solos also aid greatly in focus management(skarlock thrall). One player I knew back in my former city was able to get upto 30 focus with the Cryx caster "Terminus", during his "feat" round of course. They also have some tricks that I don't think have worked in a long while, the machine wraith idea sounds cool but in practice it hard to pull off and the helldiver bonejack attacking from beneath the enemy's feet I have never heard of working. The Cankerworm bonejack does have the ability to steal some aspect off the wreckage of a dead jack and use it against its former masters.
The other army I have and played some games with is the Rhulic dwarves. They have a "hard work is good for you" attitude and while they cannot steal focus but they are very efficient with it. Their two small jacks (blaster and gunner) can use one focus to boost both the "to hit" and the damage roll. Their heavy jacks are stupid easy to hit but do not go down so easily. I also think that their Rhulic models look good, a different dwarf look than other miniature brands but still good. This Rhulic themed army can also use the Brun Cragback + Lug pair and the Gudrun the Wanderer from the Hordes books.
One thing that I was never able to try was to find a another player to try mixing our cards together and draw them in order for each round. The 2nd version of Confrontation was like this and I really enjoyed the suspense and it kept things interesting. The avalanche of activations and charges by my army and then my opponent releases his avalanche of charges and spells I find boring. I like the random aspects of a activation deck and the idea that once the battle begins all plans get thrown out. The changeover from 1st to 2nd edition did improve things but I still was bitter over the changeover by Confrontation. I should have tried harder to forget but I can't. I stopped playing on a regular basis a year or more before I left the big city. Confrontation is still the best in my mind but I still wish you good times and lots of fun.
Those are my thoughts and advice

gentlemen, thank you very much for your insight!
Trust me when I say confrontation is on no danger of loosing the number 1 place in my heart, it's too good. its funny that you made that observation about activation sequence. on Wednesday when I watch the demo game I was really sad to think I might be playing another you go I go game. competition was just so advanced in that respect its hard to go backwards. Oh well.
I am thinking cygnar still, I appreciate is well-rounded nature, but I'd be getting the colossus, i love it's look and it sounds like it's a pretty good buy. I am impressed how privateer press has kept the big models affordable and playable, something GW could never really achieve.
CRYX still looks good but is big infantry blocks are expensive to purchase, lol! Everblight sounds like it has a fast glass cannon playstyle and I really like that. Cygnar to learn, then I'll keep an eye out for a force to specialize with.
I'll post a force when I have it.
Thank you guys!

What you said about PP prices for big models is so correct. They also have more jacks that build on top of the frame of a previously released jack model, if you are really crazy get a pack of rare earth magnets and a package of finishing nails. Cut the finishing nails to an appropriate length, drill holes for these new "iron"pins in the body and the arms/alternative weapons/newest release. I would use only one magnet per joint, best it to be the body, a nail underneath the magnet will give it a stronger bond. If you use two magnets you run the chance of flipping one magnet to the same "pole" as the outside "pole" of the body magnet. The final result should be body of jack- iron pin with magnet glued on top-><-iron pin-all the different arms/weapons of course you would have to repeat for each arm/leg/head you wish to have interchangeable.
If I ever find the Aberration Prime box with alllll the pieces I would gladly do all this.
For pieces like the "ghost like spirits" coming out of one of the Cryx character jacks I think you could carefully drill the additional details(spirits) and glue a long pin into it. Drill a hole into the jack body, hopefully somewhere not easily seen. Shove a tiny ball of postertac into the hole. That should provide enough tacky resistance to keep these extra details from falling off, but still be able to pull them off to revert to a basic original jack. You could drill a long hole into the body and slightly kink the pin extending out of the spirit detail. Gently force the kinked pin into the hole. This working right depends on the size of your wire and the size of your drilled hole in the body.
All these ideas/suggestions may not work for every jack or every army. I looked at the jacks for the Retribution elves and I was very skeptical if I could pin and magnet treatment those jacks.
You still have the option of doing what PP sales team wants you to do, buy another basic Cygnar plastic heavy warjack box everytime they release a new "character" jack using that body.
PP has moved to using more plastic figs in a much more delicate way than Rackham did. Nothing can bring plastic figs to the same quality as metal but PP uses the bigger figs in plastic so I think they still look acceptable. Rackham's plastic wolfen and Dirz monster figs also looked acceptable but switch to a human scale and I just want to barf.
Also find out from your friends how BIG they intend their league battles to get. A friend of mine dropped out when he realized that most leagues were being encouraged to play 70 pt games, up from the 35 pts that we started 2nd edition with. He still wished for some skirmish level armies unfortunately some of PP newest models(battle engines, gargants) demand a bigger pt level game. They have grown their game to this higher level, unlike GW's Forgeworld stuff is so big and way too expensive for 99% of their players. Really a player would need another suitcase/travel case for their army's battle engine and gargant
have fun and good luck

Awesome, lol! Gents, do you know a base of cryx that is solid, must own, core? I don't mind starting with an internet list. The more I learn the more I'll change up my stuff anyway. If you say Cryx over Cygnar, let me know what to buy! Honestly, they are far tougher to plan for than the cygnar list I was thinking.

I wanted to do everblight with Absalonia2 (I love the model), but my friend bought it all up for a second army, lol, punker! Dough is doing a great job sculpting for PP, some of their best models!

After the starter get a unit of bile thralls and nightmare, two pistol wraiths, tartarous and you're having fun The bile thralls and pistol wraiths are great figs as well... I'm not sure I love the bane models (the riders are amazing) but they are awful to face... Especially with Tartarus. /M
